Yukon residents, what will you do with all those lawn bags?

YUKON — A spring leaf and yard bag collection service is being offered for free to Yukon utility customers through March 19.

The city of Yukon’s Sanitation Services Division is providing residents this service to get rid of the abundance of yard bags that result from lawn scalping season and spring leaf cleanup on residential properties.

Now through March 19, residents may place leaf and grass-filled trash bags at the curb during their neighborhood’s routine trash collection day. There is no limit to the number of bags allowed, but the bags should be durable enough to be handled by collection workers and weigh less than 50 pounds, according to the city's website.

Residents are asked to observe the designated 3-foot minimum distance around their poly cart when placing leaf bags at the curb so the bags do not interfere with the automated trash truck that empties the carts. A different truck and crew will go through the neighborhoods to collect the disposal bags.
