Cousin of Bricktown shooting victim arrested in death

An altercation between two cousins early Sunday in Bricktown led to one man dead and another facing a murder complaint, police said.

Around 2:25 a.m., Oklahoma City police responded to a call at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites at 101 E Main St., where they found Mario Vines, 48, dead inside a hallway.

Police said Vines was involved in an altercation with his 39-year-old cousin, Tarius Reed, when Reed pulled out a pistol and shot Vines to death.

Vines was pronounced dead at the scene.

Reed was booked into the Oklahoma County jail on a murder complaint. He was being held without bail.

The cousins are from Daphne, Alabama, and were in Oklahoma City for work, authorities said.

The shooting death is the 12th homicide in Oklahoma City this year.
