Here are The Oklahoman's high school athletes of the week for Feb. 1-7. Cast your vote for the overall athlete of the week, as well.

Boys basketball

Anthony Turner, Sr., Classen SAS: The 6-foot-4 guard was dominant last week, helping the Comets to a 3-0 record, including a 59-46 win against Class 3A third-ranked Millwood on Friday. Turner scored 31 points and grabbed 12 rebounds against the Falcons. In a win against Douglass, Turner scored 19 points, and he had 16 points in a win against U.S. Grant on Thursday. This season, Turner is averaging nearly 26 points per game while grabbing eight rebounds and dishing six assists, and Classen SAS is ranked seventh in Class 4A and is 12-2 on the season.

Girls basketball

Trinity Gooden, Sr. Choctaw: The Rice signee was all over the court for Class 6A No. 4 Choctaw last week. The Yellowjackets took down Putnam West, No. 7 Midwest City and then Enid all by 14 or more points. Gooden averaged 11 points, eight rebounds and three assists in those games. Although she performed well on the offensive side, it was Gooden’s defense that sparked the Yellowjackets’ runs. Good guarded multiple positions, using her 5-foot-10 frame to record 2.5 steals per game. With Gooden’s efforts, Choctaw (14-2) has hit its stride and is on a four-game win streak with the postseason set to begin in just a couple of weeks.

Boys swimming

Gavin Sires, Sr., Stillwater: He won two events at the Class 6A East Regional in Jenks on Saturday. Sires finished the 50-yard freestyle in 21.63 seconds and 100 backstroke in 52.40. Sires earned a spot on The Oklahoman’s All-City first team last year after placing in the top three at state in those two events. He will attempt to win a state title later this month and end his Stillwater career on a high note.

Girls swimming

Victoria Whitbeck, So., McGuinness: Whitbeck won the 200-yard freestyle (2:01.26) at the Class 5A East Regional in Jenks on Friday. She also placed second in the 500 freestyle (5:25.48) and helped McGuinness win the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 4:05.42, just ahead of Fort Gibson (4:05.83). Whitbeck had two second-place finishes at the state meet last year and will try to win her first title this month.

Wrestling

Cash Donnell, Fr., Piedmont: Donnell was dominant in Piedmont’s two duals last week. The 106-pounder earned victories against El Reno and Geary, improving to 31-1 on the season. He's one of the best young wrestlers in the metro and will be a top contender for a Class 5A title at regionals later this week.
