OU football: Sooners get commitment from Raleek Brown, top RB in 2022 class

NORMAN — OU might not have picked up a running back in the 2021 signing class, but they've already got their man at that position for the 2022 class.

Raleek Brown, the top all-purpose back in next year's class and the No. 31 overall player in the class according to Rivals.com, committed to the Sooners on Friday.

Brown, a standout at Santa Ana (California) Mater Dei, had offers that included Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Miami, Oregon, Texas and USC among others.

Brown (5-foot-9, 170 pounds) is the first major commit for OU running backs coach DeMarco Murray, who joined Lincoln Riley's staff a year ago.

The Sooners did add Tennessee transfer Eric Gray at running back recently.

Brown is the fifth commitment of the 2022 class for the Sooners and the first from California.

His speed and hands make him not only a threat as a running back but also in the passing game as well.
