Oklahoma high school football: Yukon promotes Marshall Hahn to be next head coach

YUKON – The Yukon football team didn’t have to look beyond its own program to find its next head coach.

Marshall Hahn, who spent the past two seasons as Yukon’s wide receiver’s coach, was approved Monday night as the Millers next head coach following a school board meeting.

This will be Hahn’s second head coaching position.

“The culture of the football program at Yukon checks all of the right boxes,” Hahn told The Oklahoman.

Hahn is from southwest Colorado and has coached there, including five years as head coach at Bayfield High School, Hahn’s alma mater, and seven years in northwest Arkansas. Two years ago, Hahn, 42, joined Yukon’s staff as an assistant under former coach Jeremy Reed.

Reed resigned last month after accepting a position at Bethel College in Kansas.

Yukon went 6-5 in 2020 and qualified for the playoffs for the first time since 2013 as the fourth seed. Reed went 20-21 during his four-year tenure and didn't have a season worse than 4-6. The Millers won only six games in the three seasons before Reed's arrival.

“I want to be able to continue pushing this forward,” Hahn said. “I wanted to be a part of it when I came here, and now I have the opportunity to continue building this.”
