Watch pop icon Jennifer Lopez croon a lovely a capella version of Oklahoma native Woody Guthrie's "This Land Is Your Land" today as part of President Joe Biden's inaugural ceremonies in Washington, D.C.

An Okemah native, Guthrie penned "This Land is Your Land" on Feb. 23, 1940. The timeless song — written just days after Guthrie traveled across the country and arrived in New York City — describes what he viewed on his journey, from the bounty of the “golden valley” to the lines at the Relief Office.

The Tulsa-based Woody Guthrie Center celebrated the 80th anniversary of the late, legendary songwriter penning his seminal anthem on Feb. 23, 2020, with a concert at The Town Hall in New York City, around the corner from where Guthrie originally wrote it.

“For 80 years, ‘This Land is Your Land’ has been for many of us an alternate national anthem,” said Deana McCloud, executive director of the Woody Guthrie Center, in a 2020 statement. “Woody’s lyrics are timeless as they praise the beauty and bountiful resources of our country, but they also question the way we share and care for those rich blessings."

Along with J.Lo performing Guthrie's signature song, Oklahoma native Garth Brooks also crooned the hymn "Amazing Grace" at this morning's inaugural celebration.
