Oklahoma high school boys basketball: Watch McGuinness' Graham Tawwater hit game-winning shot
Graham Tawwater is no stranger to scoring.
But when McGuinness was tied with Class 5A fourth-ranked Shawnee with four seconds left Tuesday, he needed to hit one of biggest shots of his career to complete the comeback.
The junior guard inbounded the ball in the back court before receiving the pass back while running left to right. He started driving toward the basket and got near the right elbow before pulling up and hitting the jump shot as the buzzer sounded to give No. 9 McGuinness a 65-63 win.
Tawwater finished with 26 points to lead all scorers. The Fighting Irish trailed by seven entering the fourth quarter, but Tawwater's bucket gave them their fourth win in the past five games.
Up next, McGuinness will take on Christian Heritage in the first round of the Otho "Sweet Pea" Curtis Invitational at Newcastle High School at 4:30 p.m. Thursday. Shawnee will host Sapulpa at 8:30 p.m. Thursday in the Vision Bank Shawnee Invitational.
