Oklahoma State football: J.W. Walsh added to Cowboys' coaching staff, per report

STILLWATER — Oklahoma State’s new offensive quality control coach is a familiar face.

Former Cowboy quarterback J.W. Walsh was hired for the position on Friday, according to Pokes Report.

Walsh was at OSU from 2011-15, spending part of that time as the Cowboys’ starting quarterback.

He had been bouncing around Texas as his coaching career progressed since leaving OSU. Walsh began as a graduate assistant at TCU, then became the running backs coach at Abilene Christian, and most recently served as an analyst at Texas, where he reconnected with his OSU offensive coordinator, Mike Yurcich.

Yurcich left Texas as part of the full overhaul earlier this month and was hired as offensive coordinator at Penn State.

According to Friday’s report, Walsh will work directly with quarterbacks under assistant coach Tim Rattay.
