Bedlam men's basketball: Oklahoma State vs. OU game postponed due to positive COVID-19 test
The first Bedlam men’s basketball matchup is postponed due to COVID-19.
Saturday’s game between OU and Oklahoma State inside Gallagher-Iba Arena was called off Friday morning due to a positive COVID-19 test and contact tracing within the Cowboys’ program.
The Cowboys and the Big 12 announced the decision Friday afternoon. OSU also paused team activities indefinitely.
“The well-being of the young men in our program has always been and will continue to be the most important thing to me, my staff and our administration,” OSU Mike Boynton said in a release. “We’ve been very fortunate to play the games we’ve played thus far, and we will await the advice of our medical staff before making any decisions on a return to team activities.”

The Bedlam rematch was set for the regular season finale on Feb. 27. The Big 12 scheduled an extra open week before the conference for rescheduling purposes, which could lead to a back-to-back Bedlam series.
This is the second OSU game postponed due to COVID-19. Earlier this week, West Virginia had its own COVID-19 issues and postponed its game with the Cowboys that was set for next Tuesday.
The Big 12 has had 15 games impacted by COVID-19, including non-conference games.
Including the OSU game, West Virginia postponed three games last week. Kansas State, which played OSU last Saturday with just six scholarship players and two walk-ons available, also postponed a game last week.
OU has faced its own COVID-19 problems. The season opener against Texas-San Antonio was delayed and a matchup with Florida was canceled after positive tests and contact tracing within the OU program.
And forwards Brady Manek and Jalen Hill missed the past two games due to positive tests and contact tracing. Hill was expected to return Saturday, while Manek was likely still sidelined.
The Sooners host Kansas State on Tuesday.
But it’s unclear when the Cowboys will play again. There is no timetable yet when practice will resume, though CBSSports.com reported practice could resume as early as Wednesday. OSU’s next scheduled game is hosting No. 2-ranked Baylor next Saturday.
