Oklahoma high school football: Breaking down the Class 6A-I playoff bracket
The Class 6A-I football playoffs begin Friday across the state. Here is a breakdown of the bracket.
Player to watch
AJ Green, Tulsa Union
Green and Tulsa Union’s offense got off to a slow start this season but picked it up and finished with four straight wins. Green was pivotal in every one of them, too, torching opposing defenses with his speed. He will be a key for Tulsa Union to make a deep run.
Welcome back to the playoffs, Millers. It’s the first time Yukon has made the playoffs since the Class 6A split. It starts hosting Mustang in a rematch of a Week 1 rivalry, which Mustang won 35-21. If the Millers win, they’ll likely to head to Tulsa with a matchup against the defending state champions.
Best first-round matchup
Westmoore at Southmoore
How about another rivalry game in the first round of the playoffs? Westmoore and Southmoore will battle at Moore Stadium on Friday. The Jaguars won in Week 2, 34-27, but they face a different SaberCat team that has found momentum and is looking to make a run.
Edmond North (1-6) at Edmond Santa Fe (7-2)
Westmoore (5-4) at Southmoore (3-7)
Enid (3-6) at Tulsa Union (4-4)
Putnam City (4-5) at Broken Arrow (6-3)
Edmond Memorial (0-10) at Owasso (10-0)
