OSU football gains commitment, loses running back to transfer portal

STILLWATER — Oklahoma State picked up the commitment of a talented linebacker for the 2021 recruiting class, and lost a once-promising backup running back to the transfer portal on Thursday.

Nick Martin, a linebacker from Pleasant Grove, Texas, announced his commitment to the Cowboys via Twitter on Thursday morning. The 6-foot, 195-pound Martin is labeled as an athlete by recruiting services, but is an ideal fit at linebacker for the Cowboys.

He’s the 16th commitment in the Cowboys’ 2021 class and the second linebacker, along with Edmond Santa Fe’s Collin Oliver, who is a linebacker/defensive end hybrid.

On the other side of the coin, OSU lost running back Deondrick Glass to the transfer portal, according to a report from 247Sports.

Glass, who was one of the highlights of the 2019 recruiting class as a four-star prospect, played in one game last season while redshirting. Glass had not been among the five running backs dressing out for games and was passed on the depth chart this fall by true freshman Dominic Richardson.
