Oklahoma high school football: Crescent's defense holds against Oklahoma Christian Academy
EDMOND – Crescent's defense is finding its groove as the season progresses.
The Tigers topped Oklahoma Christian Academy 22-8 on Thursday night, yet its defense came up big time after time. OCA's offense, which gained multiple players back from injury including quarterback James Henault, found itself in Tiger territory multiple times but was only to score one time.
Crescent senior quarterback Hunter Wilmoth rushed for a score and also had an interception. OCA's only touchdowns came late in the second quarter. Freshman C.J. Wilson and sophomore Luke Descher also ran for scores.
The only loss for Crescent (6-1, 3-1 District A-3) came in a 21-20 game against Tonkawa, which remains undefeated in district play but plays Cashion in Week 9. Then Crescent renews its rivalry with the Wildcats in the final week of the season.
Those 21 points are the most the Tigers have surrendered this season. If that trend continues, the young Crescent squad could find itself making a deep playoff run.
