Vote in The Oklahoman's Fans' Choice Player of the Week poll for Week 7
The Oklahoma high school football season has included outstanding performances, and Week 7 was no exception.
The Oklahoman's Fans' Choice Player of the Week poll for the top games by OKC-area players in Week 7 is now live. Fans can vote before it closes at 1 p.m. Tuesday. Results of the poll will appear in Wednesday’s edition of The Oklahoman.
Here are the candidates for the city-area Fans' Choice Player of the Week:
Whit Carpenter, WR/DB, Blanchard: He finished with two touchdowns in Blanchard’s 34-14 victory against Tecumseh. The senior returned a kickoff 92 yards for a score in the third quarter and ran for a 41-yard touchdown in the fourth.
Justin Humphrey, QB, Pauls Valley: The standout sophomore recorded 24 carries for 300 yards and three touchdowns along with 92 passing yards and a score in a 35-13 win against Madill.
Collin Matteson, WR/DB, Oklahoma Christian School: The senior finished with three touchdowns and three interceptions in the Saints’ 23-15 win over Luther. He had five receptions for 63 yards and a pair of receiving touchdowns, as well as an interception return for a score. He sealed the win with an interception in the fourth quarter.
Jaylon Orange, RB, Shawnee: The junior had 17 carries for 218 yards and two touchdowns in the Wolves’ 35-7 win against Tulsa East Central, helping Shawnee move to 4-0 in district play.
Cade Stephenson, RB/DB, Kingfisher: The senior was spectacular in a 38-31 win against Perkins-Tryon. He had 15 carries for 138 yards and three touchdowns and caught three passes for 62 yards and another touchdown. On defense, he had 14 tackles and an interception.
Dayton Wolfe, QB, Westmoore: The senior had four passing touchdowns in the Jaguars’ 39-35 comeback win against Norman. He completed 16 of 26 passes for 258 yards and had 29 carries for 125 yards.
