Watch: OSU basketball walk-on Carson Sager receives news he's on the team from his brother
STILLWATER — Carson Sager is following his brother’s footsteps.
Christien Sager was a walk-on for Oklahoma State’s basketball team. Now, Carson is as well.
And in a touching moment shared by OSU’s social media accounts, Christien was the one to deliver the news to Carson.
Christien called Carson on FaceTime in what seemed like a routine check in. Carson was shooting baskets at the time.
“You better get about 5 hours worth if you want to keep at OSU next year,” Christien told him.
Carson still didn’t catch on.
“A.K.A, you’re walking on at OSU next year,” Christien told his brother.
Carson’s mouth fell open. Disbelief was his only response.
Carson is one of three new walk-ons for the Cowboys. A 6-foot-4 guard from Rider High in Wichita Falls, Texas, he was a first team All-District selection and valedictorian.
And he clearly was a fan of the Cowboys for a long time, based on his Twitter page.
Christien joined the program as a walk-on in 2011, but earned a scholarship that season. He played four seasons for the Cowboys.
