InStyle: These eyeshadow primers are worth buying

Eyeshadow primer used to be a daily ritual for me.

Not as often these days since I’m staying in more. I don’t have Zoom business meetings.  A couple of times a month, I hit up several local stores to check out merchandise for photo shoots and stories. And, yes, I reach for eyeshadow primer on those days. Full face makeup, too.

There’s a lot to be said for feeling normal, even if it’s just putting on makeup. Maybe I’ll start doing more than a quick swipe of mascara, BB cream and clear lip balm even when I know I’m not leaving the house all day.

But I’m getting away from the subject. For years I used an eyeshadow primer that I bought from one of the showrooms at the Dallas Market Center during market week. Not too long before COVID-19 changed our world, I picked up two tubes of The Balm’s Put a Lid on It at a store. It was deeply discounted, and I had been wanting to try something different. Good thing too since I haven't been to market this year.

The Balm’s version creates a matte finish and works fine. Better than the potted cream I had been using. But I’m on the second tube and even though I don’t use it every day, I’m trying to think ahead because I don’t want to be without what I consider an essential. Since this is also a good time to try a different brand, I’ve  been doing some research.

I came across this story from InStyle which tested more than 20 eyeshadow primers and shared the ones worth buying. Take a look if you’re in market for a new primer.
