Vote in The Oklahoman's Fans' Choice Player of the Week poll for Week 5

There were no shortages of great performances at the halfway point of the high school football season.

The Oklahoman's Fans' Choice Player of the Week poll for the top games by OKC-area players in Week 5 is now live. Fans can vote before it closes at 1 p.m. Wednesday. Results of the poll will appear in Thursday’s edition of The Oklahoman.

Here are the candidates for the city-area Fans' Choice Player of the Week:

Collin Gibson, QB, McLoud: The senior was special in McLoud’s 48-20 win against previously unbeaten Mount St. Mary. He rushed 22 times for 187 yards and four touchdowns. He also ran in a two-point conversion.

Jaden Gilliland, RB/LB, Bethany: The sophomore was outstanding in the Bronchos’ 42-28 win at Elk City. He scored five touchdowns, four rushing and one receiving, and had 19 carries for 196 yards.

Ethan Mullins, QB, Wayne: The junior had 25 carries for 366 yards and six touchdowns in a 53-13 win against Rush Springs.

Carson May, QB, Jones: May was unstoppable in Jones' 27-15 win over Chandler. The junior quarterback completed 19 of 33 passes for 301 yards and four touchdowns. His longest touchdown was for 60 yards.

Makari Slaughter, RB, Yukon: The junior was stellar in the Millers’ 42-24 win against Enid. He had only five carries but ran for 192 yards and two touchdowns.

Xander Steele, DB, Edmond North: Steele was a big reason why Edmond North earned its first win since Sept. 13, 2019, beating Moore 14-7. Steele recorded seven tackles and two interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown.

Qwontrel Walker, RB, Stillwater: He led Stillwater's offense from start to finish in its 48-27 win at Del City. The senior finished with 29 carries for 272 yards and three scores against one of the state’s top defenses.

Tyler Woodson, RB, Tuttle: The sophomore had 30 carries for 190 yards and two touchdowns, leading the Tigers to a 40-7 home victory against Tecumseh.
