AP poll: OSU climbs to No. 10, OU falls out
For the first time since 2017, Oklahoma State is in the top 10 of The Associated Press Top 25 poll.
And Oklahoma, following a second straight loss, is no longer ranked.
The Cowboys jumped seven spots in the poll to No. 10 following a 47-7 rout of Kansas to improve to 3-0 on the season entering a bye week. OSU was last in the top 10 in Week 12 of the 2017 season.
Tulsa’s upset of then-ranked No. 11 UCF late Saturday also boosted OSU’s resume. OSU beat Tulsa 16-7 to open the season.
OSU is the highest-ranked Big 12 team. Texas is No. 22 and Iowa State is No. 24.
Kansas State, OU and West Virginia also received votes.
OU had been ranked in the top 10 in 29 straight polls before losing to Kansas State eight days ago. They had not been ranked as low as No. 18 — last week’s ranking — since Oct. 10, 2016.
But Iowa State’s 37-30 upset caused the Sooners to tumble even more. OU faces rival Texas in the annual Red River Showdown on Saturday in Dallas.
