OSU football: Recent Oklahoma high school stars get chance in rout of Kansas
Oklahoma’s recent high school stars left a mark on both sides of No. 17-ranked Oklahoma State’s 47-7 victory Saturday in Lawrence, Kansas.
For the Cowboys, two true freshmen made their debut.
OSU freshman running back Dominic Richardson, a McGuinness product, came in late and finished with 27 yards on 12 carries. He joined OSU over the summer after leaving TCU.
Plainview product and freshman offensive lineman Eli Russ also debuted in the second half.
Bixby product Brennan Presley also played, making a fair catch on a punt. He’s played in all three games.
For Kansas, former Moore star Daniel Hishaw Jr. was a bright spot in the final period. A quarterback and defensive back in high school, he’s now playing running back. The freshman rushed for 51 yards on five carries, including a 15-yard run in the fourth quarter. He entered the game with 2 yards on three carries.
Jayhawks freshman cornerback Duece Mayberry, an Owasso graduate, was also in the spotlight in just his third career game. But not for a good reason. He was the defender who lost Braydon Johnson for a 66-yard score with 14:04 remaining in the opening half.
