OSU football: Cowboys induct Thurman Thomas into Ring of Honor

STILLWATER — Thurman Thomas had one way to celebrate his name and number being unveiled atop Boone Pickens Stadium.

The Cabbage Patch dance.

Thomas — the Cowboys’ all-time leading rusher — broke out his famous touchdown celebration after speaking to OSU fans at halftime of the Cowboys’ game against West Virginia on Saturday.

Thomas was honored as the inaugural member of the Cowboys’ Ring of Honor.

“It’s great to be home,” Thomas said.

A tribute video played with messages from some of his former teammates at OSU and in the NFL, where Thomas helped Buffalo reach four straight Super Bowls.

Jim Kelly, Bruce Smith, Barry Sanders and Mark Moore all spoke in the video.

But Thomas’ Cabbage Patch throwback wasn’t the only time fans saw that Saturday.

OSU running back LD Brown broke out the dance while wearing a throwback jersey to honor Thomas. Brown scored on a 66-yard touchdown run in the second quarter and immediately honored Thomas.
