Photos and video: Trisha Yearwood gives moving performance for ACM Awards 'in memoriam' segment
NASHVILLE, Tennessee - Former Owasso resident Trisha Yearwood gave a powerful performance for the "in memoriam" segment on Wednesday's Academy of Country Music Awards.
As previously reported, Yearwood, who is celebrating her 56th birthday today, crooned her new song “I’ll Carry You Home” from her 2019 album "Every Girl." To read my interview with Yearwood about the album, click here.
The segment honored late luminaries like Oklahoma native Joe Diffie, Charlie Daniels, Kenny Rogers, John Prine, Jan Howard and many more.
The ACM Awards normally take place in the spring in Las Vegas, but were shifted to autumn and Nashville due to the coronavirus pandemic. It was the first time for the show to be centered in Music City, with the event broadcasting live on CBS from three iconic country music venues: the Grand Ole Opry House, the Ryman Auditorium and The Bluebird Cafe.
