GRAND OPENING
Cause to celebrate: Girl Scouts Western Oklahoma celebrated the opening of Camp Trivera, a $12 million STEM camp and event venue. Speakers were Oklahoma City Mayor David Holt, along with Girl Scouts Western Oklahoma CEO Shannon Evers, and capital campaign chairmen Myrla Pierson and Linda Whittington. Self-guided tours were available and 150 people attended. Honorary co-chairmen were Jean McLaughlin, Dave McLaughlin, Amy Gray and Kelly Gray.
Top billing: Some of the donors and dignitaries attending were Bob Ross, Catherine Oster, Polly Nichols, Annie Bohanon, Joan Maguire, Amy Maguire, Kay Goebel, Carol Johnson, Justin Evers, Karen Luke, Steve Mason, Wendy Drummond and Dwight Lawson.
Other events: The weekend’s events also included socially distanced tours of the new camp for local Girl Scouts, who heard about STEM careers for women from Boeing employee Kristin Holland. When not in use by the Girl Scouts, Camp Trivera will be available for private rentals.
GALLERY OPENING/PREVIEW
Occasion: The William S. and Ann Atherton Gallery re-opening was held Sept. 10. The gallery has been renovated and features paintings, sculptures, illustrations and graphic art by notable artists. After the ribbon cutting and gallery tour, guests also had an exclusive Prix de West preview tour.
FIRST MEETING
Event: Members of the Oklahoma City Junior League met for the first general meeting at the Oklahoma History Center. They met both virtually and in person. On the agenda was the announcement that the Mistletoe Market will be held virtually during the holiday season with events in November and December. The next general meeting is Oct. 13. Leslie Coale-Mossman is president.
Meeting focus: Jennifer Mayo and Lindsey Churchill were speakers and the group participated in the packaging of 2,000 products that were sent to JLOC community partner, Positive Tomorrows. Project EmpowHer Project Manager Stephanie Hinton also spoke.
DAR TEA
Tea: Oklahoma City Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution met for a tea in the home of Chapter Regent Nancy Perry Pool. An archway of patriotic balloons greeted guests as they entered the garden. The tea featured iced tea, orange sparkling water and lemonade with sandwiches and fruit. State Regent Teresa Ellis Cales talked about the itinerary of her administration.
