Oklahoma high school football: Ethan Mullins runs for 3 TDs as Wayne edges Lexington
Ethan Mullins came through for the Wayne football team on both sides of the ball Friday.
The junior led the Bulldogs to a 22-21 win against Lexington, finishing with 37 carries for 212 yards and three touchdowns. He also intercepted a pass in Wayne’s end zone on the final play of the game.
Mullins is coming off a breakout season and leads Wayne’s wildcat-style offense, taking direct snaps out of the shotgun formation.
He gave Class A Wayne (1-1) the lead with a touchdown run late in the third quarter. After a successful 2-point conversion, the Bulldogs took a 22-21 lead and held off Class 2A Lexington (1-1) for the victory.
Mullins had 3,200 total yards and 42 touchdowns last season. He grew during the offseason and is now 6-foot and 185 pounds.
“He grew about two inches and put on about 25 pounds from his sophomore to junior year,” Wayne coach Brandon Sharp said. “He has definitely gotten bigger and faster and stronger.”
