Coronavirus in Oklahoma: Scissortail Park's Family Kite Day rescheduled for Saturday
Scissortail Park's Family Kite Day takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday on the Great Lawn at Scissortail Park, 300 SW 7.
As previously reported, the event, initially called the Scissortail Kite Festival and STEM Family Day, was originally slated for May 30 at the downtown Oklahoma City park.
Families and kite enthusiasts are invited to participate in the inaugural Family Kite Day, where personal kites are encouraged.
Free build-your-own DIY kite kits, provided by Sonic Drive-In, will be available while supplies last, as well as free ready-to-fly kites, provided by Bank of Oklahoma, also while supplies last.
In addition, free STEM education activity kits created by the Central OK STEM Alliance in partnership with Devon Energy also be available, while supplies last. Kits include materials and instructions for creative ways to learn about science, technology, engineering and math, according to a news release.
Music from DJ Derek Bowden and Kid DJs will be centered on the Love’s Travel Stops Stage.
Food trucks and Doubleshot bar service will be available for eventgoers to purchase food and drinks.
