Thunder has played three Game 7's; Chris Paul has played six
The Thunder has played three Game 7’s in its 12-year Oklahoma City history. Chris Paul has played in six Game 7’s during his NBA career, for three franchises, and that becomes seven Game 7’s and four franchises when Paul and the Thunder play the Rockets on Wednesday night in Game 7 of their first-round Western Conference playoff series.
Here are the Thunder’s Game 7’s:
2011 West semifinals at OKC: The Thunder beat Memphis 105-90. Kevin Durant had 39 points on 13-of-25 shooting; the Grizzlies had just 34 points at halftime.
2014 West first round at OKC: The Thunder beat Memphis 120-109. Durant scored 33 points on 12-of-18 shooting and Russell Westbrook had a 27/10/16 triple double. The Grizzlies played without star forward Zach Randolph, who was suspended for punching Steven Adams in Game 6.

2016 West finals at Golden State: The Warriors beat the Thunder 96-88. OKC led 48-42 at halftime but scored just 12 points in the third quarter. Golden State led by 11 with 2:52 left in the game, but OKC drew within 90-86 with 1:18 left in the game. That’s when Serge Ibaka fouled Steph Curry on a 3-point shot; the resulting three points effectively ended the game.
Here are Paul’s Game 7’s:
Lost 91-82 with New Orleans at home vs. the Spurs in the 2008 West semifinals. Paul had 18 points on 8-of-18 shooting, with eight rebounds and 14 assists.
Won 82-72 with the Clippers at Memphis in the 2012 West first round. Paul had 19 points on 7-of-17 shooting, with nine rebounds and four assists.
Won 126-121 at home with the Clippers against Golden State in the 2014 West first round. Paul had 22 points on 8-of-15 shooting, with two rebounds and 14 assists.

Lost 113-100 with the Clippers at Houston in the 2015 West semifinals. Paul had 26 points on 9-of-20 shooting, with five rebounds and 10 assists.
Lost 104-91 at home to Utah in the 2017 West first round. Paul had 13 points on 6-of-19 shooting, with four rebounds and nine assists.
So Paul’s Game 7 averages are 20.8 points, 5.0 rebounds, 9.5 assists and 46.1 percent shooting.
Elsewhere on the Thunder roster, Game 7’s are minimal. Adams played in Game 7 against the Grizzlies in 2014, and both Adams and Andre Roberson played Game 7 against the Warriors in 2016.
Danilo Gallinari played in Game 7 for Denver against the Lakers in the 2012 West first round, scoring three points in a 96-87 Nuggets loss.
Abdel Nader played 42 seconds in Game 7 for Boston against Milwaukee in the 2018 East first round, a 112-96 Celtic rout.
So that’s six Game 7’s for Paul and five Game 7’s for the rest of the Thunder roster combined.
For the Rockets, Russell Westbrook played in three Game 7’s for the Thunder, James Harden played in one game 7 for the Thunder and two for the Rockets, P.J. Tucker and Eric Gordon played in one Game 7 each for the Rockets, Jeff Green played in two Game 7’s for the Cavaliers, Austin Rivers played in three Game 7’s for the Clippers, Tyson Chandler played in one Game 7 for New Orleans, Luc Mbah a Moute played in one Game 7 for Milwaukee and one Game 7 for the Clippers, and DeMarre Carroll played in one Game 7 for the Hawks and two Game 7’s for the Raptors.
