OU football: Six players tested positive for COVID-19 in past week

NORMAN — OU had six football players test positive for COVID-19 last week, a week after nine OU football players tested positive upon the Sooners' return to preseason camp.

The test numbers for football were part of the latest numbers released by the school Monday night.

The testing occurred in two rounds, with 166 players combined tested Aug. 17 and 20. Five players tested positive Aug. 17 and one more three days later.

Seventeen active cases remain among football players.

There were no positive tests among 15 players and 13 staffers tested in men's basketball and one staff member tested positive in women's basketball in 19 tests among staffers and players.

In other sports, 347 total players and 77 staffers were tested last week, with 11 players and a staffer testing positive.
