Top storylines

Will Tulsa Metro Christian continue to roll? The Patriots went 15-0 last season and won their first state title in school history. After losing star quarterback Asher Link to graduation, Tulsa Metro Christian will attempt to remain a Class 2A power.

Beggs looks to make a title run. The Golden Demons advanced to last year’s state semifinals and finished 11-3. With talented players returning, Beggs has a realistic chance to win its second state championship and first since 1975.

Players to watch

Noah Alexander, RB, Eufaula: The senior was a big reason Eufaula had a 10-2 record last year. Alexander, who is committed to Army, ran for 1,448 yards and 17 touchdowns.

Kendal Daniels, DB, Beggs: The Texas A&M commit is considered one of the nation’s top defensive backs in the 2021 class. Last year, he had 117 tackles, six interceptions (three returned for touchdowns), three forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries. He also caught five touchdowns.

Solomon Wright, DL, Vian: The 6-foot-1, 270-pound Arkansas commit recorded 124 tackles and 14 sacks as a junior, helping Vian make an appearance in the 2019 state title game.

Key games

Tulsa Metro Christian at Beggs, Week 6: A rematch of last year’s state semifinal, which Tulsa Metro Christian won 42-31.

Sperry at Adair, Week 6: This will likely be the biggest game of the season in District 2A-8. Sperry was 12-1 last year, and Adair finished 11-2.

Eufaula at Idabel, Week 8: Idabel is moving down from Class 3A and will likely be the main challenger against Eufaula for the district title.
