OKC Thunder: Mike Muscala enters concussion protocol
Thunder center Mike Muscala sustained a concussion in an overtime loss to the Nuggets on Monday, the team announced Tuesday.
One minute after entering in the first quarter, Muscala jumped to contest Nuggets guard P.J. Dozier at the rim. Muscala fell backward and hit his head on the floor.
Dozier was called for an offensive foul. The play was reviewed for a possible flagrant foul, but it was kept as a common foul.
Muscala suffered a cut above his right eye and didn't return.
Per the NBA's concussion policy, Muscala will now begin return-to-participation protocol. He will have to exhibit symptom-free behavior before resuming basketball activities.
Muscala, in his seventh NBA season and first with the Thunder, is averaging 4.5 points and 2.2 rebounds per game. He's shooting 36% from 3-point range.
