College football: OSU's Kolby Harvell-Peel, OU's Ronnie Perkins on Nagurski watch list

Kolby Harvell-Peel of Oklahoma State and Ronnie Perkins from OU are among the 98 players on the preseason watch list for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy given to college football's top defensive player.

Harvell-Peel, a junior safety, had 71 tackles and five interceptions last season. Perkins, a junior defensive end, had 13.5 tackles for loss and 6.0 sacks, starting 13 of the Sooners' 14 games. He faces a potential suspension of up to five games to start the 2020 season.

The FWAA and the Charlotte Touchdown Club will announce five finalists for the Nagurski Trophy, as selected by the FWAA All-America committee, with voting input from the association's full membership. Committee members will vote to decide the winner, to be announced in December.
