OKC Thunder: Steven Adams celebrates birthday inside NBA bubble

Steven Adams was wished a happy 27th birthday Monday morning, but the Thunder center got technical with the timing.

"My birthday was yesterday in New Zealand," Adams said. "It was my actual born day, just saying. So I celebrated yesterday ... by doing absolutely nothing."

Adams was born July 20, 1993 in Rotorua, New Zealand. When Adams spoke to reporters on a Zoom call Monday morning from Disney World, it was already July 21 in his home country.

Adams said he might celebrate again Monday by playing chess or going to the pool. His options are limited inside the NBA's bubble, but Adams downplayed any hardships players might be facing in the restrictive environment.

"Let's be clear, mate," Adams said. "This is not Syria, mate. It's not that hard. It's not that difficult. We're living in a bloody resort. Everyone's gonna complain, everyone has their own preferences, but it's not anything too serious. It's a bit of dry food here and there, and you get bored every now and then, but it's all good."
