High school baseball: Middle West speeds past East in OBCA All-State game

Blanchard’s Bryce Madron smashed a ground ball to the shortstop and beat the throw to the bag for an infield single.

The crowd erupted at the sight of Madron’s speed.

“I think it just speaks of what kind of kid he is,” Blanchard coach Josh Raney said. “That’s a routine ball to the shortstop and anybody in America could have jogged through and he just sprinted. His instincts are just incredible. He’s one of the most gifted kids I’ve ever coached.”

The Middle West topped the East 4-2 in the Oklahoma Baseball Coaches Association All-State game at the Bricktown Ballpark on Saturday night.

Madron’s infield single led to an RBI for Oklahoma Christian School’s Jacob Bookout, who was awarded Most Valuable Player of the Middle game.

Newcastle’s Jake Cox sealed the lead as he stole home on a wild pitch.
