The Gallery of Homes at Rivendell opens Saturday with four builders opening doors to new homes on one street to raise money for two south Oklahoma City nonprofits, The Sparrow Project and Moore Faith Medical Clinic.

As with previous editions, 100% of admissions will be donated, organizers said. Tickets are $10, with children 12 and under admitted free, and available online at www.GalleryOfHomesAtRivendell.com.

Homes will be open daily 1 to 8 p.m. Saturday through July 12. The homebuilders are Craig Smith Homes, Huffman Custom Homes, Stonewall Homes and Tatum Custom Homes. Each home is between 3,600 and 4,000 square feet. Finished homes are furnished and staged by local interior designers. Rivendell's entrance is at SW 131 and S May Avenue.

"You may remember this south OKC home show event from years past, but it has been dormant the last 15 years. Well, we ... have resurrected this event to spark new interest in this area and support some very worthy Southside nonprofits," said volunteer spokesman Erika Huffman. "It will be similar to previous events in that all the new homes are located on one street in a new section of Rivendell.

"However, the builders involved are focusing less on the size of the homes — no 5,000-square-foot megamansions here — and more on maximizing space, maintaining affordability and emphasizing great style."

Ticket buyers over 18 will also be entered to win a five-night, all-inclusive stay for two at The Fives Resort and Residence in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, thanks to a donation from Travel Leaders Bentley Hedges Travel Service.

“Rivendell has won the best neighborhood in Oklahoma City nine times and I know attendees of our event will be amazed by all the new features and innovations these homes have to offer,” said P.B. Odom III, Rivendell developer. “Our wonderful sponsors have underwritten our event cost so 100% of our ticket sales will go directly to our nonprofit partners.”

The event was postponed because of the coronavirus. Huffman said precautions will be taken.

"We are encouraging attendees to wear masks and will provide masks to those who do not have one. We will also have hand sanitizer at the entry of the homes," she said. "We will be following the guidelines of the state and the city in regards to social distancing both inside and outside of our homes. This may include limiting the number of individuals inside a home as well as encouraging appropriate distancing between parties throughout.

"We also understand that this is a fluid situation and the recommendations from our local officials could change at any moment. We will adhere to any future guidelines that are set as well. We are recommending that those individuals who may be in a vulnerable population attend the event Monday-Friday because we anticipate that event traffic during the week will be substantially lighter than traffic on the weekends."

The Sparrow Project

The Sparrow Project promotes happy and fulfilled lives of adults with intellectual disabilities and "spreading the message that everyone has worth and deserves the opportunity to have a meaningful life," Huffman said.

It has two programs: Sparrow University and NEST. Sparrow University offers bi-weekly arts and crafts, music classes, sports, cooking lessons and volunteer opportunities at little to no charge. NEST organizes monthly social events, including sports, theater outings, picnics and dances.

“Community awareness is an important part of our mission and we embrace every opportunity to tell our story and showcase our program,” said Allison Richey, co-founder of The Sparrow Project. “Our desire is that more and more community members will recognize there is a service gap in our society for adults with intellectual disabilities, and this event opens up additional avenues for our incredible community to learn more about Sparrow and discover ways to help enhance their lives.”

Moore Faith

Moore Faith Medical Clinic was founded in 2015 to help meet the needs of the uninsured and underserved in Moore. The clinic said its mission is "to share the love of Christ in a holistic and tangible way through faith-based free medical care and focusing on loving and serving the community while recognizing the God-given dignity of each human life."

The clinic has seen more than 5,000 patients, provided $4 million in free prescription medications, and provided more than $6 million worth of care over the past five years.

“We are thankful to be included in this year’s show,” said David Evans, executive director of Moore Faith Medical Clinic. “We live in a time when it is especially important to help and love our neighbors, and the proceeds from this event will go toward direct patient care in our community through our free clinic and pharmacy.”

Gallery sponsors

Gallery event sponsors include ABC Supply Co. Inc., Acme Brick, BancFirst, Bryan’s Flooring, Builders First Source, Expressions Home Gallery, First American Title Company, Glazing Concepts, Lennox, Metro Appliances & More, Metheny Concrete Products, Inc., Mill Creek Lumber & Supply, Pacific Shore Stones, Pella Windows & Doors of Oklahoma, and Wet Lawn Sprinklers & Landscape.

Since the event’s inception, the Gallery of Homes at Rivendell has raised more than $260,000 for Oklahoma City nonprofit organizations.
