DJ Gasso, son of Patty Gasso, hired as Utah softball assistant
NORMAN — After two seasons as a graduate assistant under his mother, OU softball coach Patty Gasso, DJ Gasso has been hired as an assistant softball coach at Utah, the school announced Wednesday.
"After getting to know him through the hiring process, we became convinced he is a 'hidden gem,'" Utes coach Amy Hogue said in a release. "DJ knows what a winning program looks like and the work it takes to be at the top."
DJ Gasso was a standout baseball player at Norman North and finished his collegiate career at UCO after also playing at Bradley and Hutchinson Community College.
After graduating from Bradley and doing postgraduate work at UCO, he recently completed his master's degree at OU.
"DJ Gasso is going to make an immediate impact for the Utes," Patty Gasso said in the release. "He has a wealth of knowledge in all parts of the game and has a hunger to learn. I am proud of this young man and know he will flourish at Utah. Great hire, Coach Hogue!"
