Protect your hair before using heat styling tools

Many of us are reaching for blow dryers and other heat styling tools less these days.

My hair is short and I tend to let it dry on its own every other time I wash it because, well, it’s easy. And if I’m not planning to leave the house anyway, why bother?

InStyle recently tackled the subject of prepping the hair before using dryers, straighteners or curling irons. Too much heat on unprotected hair can leave it frizzy, dry or cause the color to fade.

Plenty of heat protectants are available, many of which offer UV protection and help with moisturization.

InStyle lists the 10 best heat protectants for everything from best blowouts to best overall. Check out the InStyle story.
