Scissortail Park launched the first in a series of soft openings for the OSU-OKC Farmers Market on Saturday. The event was lightly publicized but drew crowds from 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.

The grand opening to celebrate the move of the longstanding farmers market from the Oklahoma State University-Oklahoma City campus to Scissortail Park was originally planned for March. The park will continue to host soft openings on Saturday mornings through May, leading up to a grand opening event on June 6. Hand-washing and hand sanitizer stations were in place with partitions to maintain one-way foot traffic.

Vendors employed COVID-19 safety measures Saturday that will continue, including: hand-washing for 20 seconds every hour, protective masks, contact-free exchanges, prepackaged goods and no sampling.

Those interested in attending next Saturday's farmers market are encouraged to make a shopping list, avoid hand-to-hand contact, bring hand sanitizer and wear a protective mask.
