OU places program record 13 on Academic All-Big 12 baseball team

NORMAN — A program-record 13 OU players were named to the Academic All-Big 12 baseball team, the conference announced Wednesday.

The Sooners had five players on the first team and eight on the second team. It's the seventh consecutive season OU has had at least six Academic All-Big 12 picks.

Redshirt freshman pitcher Michael Betrus was one of three players in the league with a 4.00 grade-point average.

Betrus was joined on the first team by seniors Brady Harlan, Jason Ruffcorn and Braxton Webb along with junior Jordan Vujovich.

First-team members maintained a 3.20 or better GPA, while second-team picks had a 3.00-3.19 GPA. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year at a school.

Ben Abram, Braxton Bohrofen, Aaron Brooks, Jaret Godman, Conor McKenna, Diego Muniz, Wyatt Olds and Levi Prater were the Sooners' second-team honorees.
