Gunner Smith, Bethel baseball: Smith was a starting infielder for the fourth consecutive year before the season was canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic. Although Smith’s baseball season abruptly ended, he leaves Bethel as one of the most accomplished athletes in school history. Smith was the starting quarterback for three years. He set 11 school records and finished with 7,617 passing yards. He was looking forward to his final high school baseball season and worked his way into the pitching rotation. “Gunner plans to attend college in the fall and will work to possibly get involved in real estate in his future,” Bethel football coach Joey Ginn said.
