Oklahoma football: CeeDee Lamb most likely to Raiders?

The NFL Draft is next week, and two Sooners – receiver CeeDee Lamb and linebacker Kenneth Murray – figure to go in the first round. Nose guard Neville Gallimore and quarterback Jalen Hurts are considered second-day picks (second and third rounds).

I browsed through 10 mock drafts to gauge consensus on the Sooners.

Lamb’s average draft slot in those 10 mocks was 11.9. The 12th pick belongs to the Las Vegas Raiders, and indeed, four of the 10 mocks had Lamb going 12th overall to Vegas. The range was eighth (Cardinals) to 15th (Broncos).

Murray’s average draft slot was 25.5. But none of the mocks had Murray going 25th or 26th (Vikings, Dolphins). The range was 19th (Raiders, twice) to 32nd (Chiefs, twice). The most common slot for Murray was 28th (thrice), to the Ravens.

Some of the mocks went only through the first round. Others went deeper.

Hurts was slotted 34th to the Colts, 42nd overall to the Steelers, 75th to the Colts, 85th to the Lions, 88th overall to the Saints and 102nd to the Steelers. Each round consists of 32 picks, with some supplemental selections made after the third round. So Hurts is considered a solid second- or third-rounder.

Of the six mocks that went past the first round, Gallimore was slotted in the second round (34th, 40th, 49th and 63rd) of four and in the third round (78th, 100th) in two others.
