Meet The Oklahoman's 2020 All-City girls swimming first team

Isabel Webb, Shawnee

Class: Junior

Event: 50-yard freestyle

The story: Webb placed fourth in the 50 freestyle at the Class 6A state meet. She led all swimmers from the metro area with a time of 25.25 seconds.

Gracie Shapard, Heritage Hall

Class: Sophomore

Event: 100 freestyle

The story: Shapard was dominant at the Class 5A state meet, winning the 100 freestyle (54.87) and 100 backstroke (58.59). She also helped Heritage Hall win the 200 medley relay (1:56.74).

Ashley Leader, Newcastle

Class: Sophomore

Event: 100 butterfly

The story: Leader, who was coming off a breakout freshman season, had a big day at the Class 5A state meet. She won the 100 butterfly (59.73) by 8.91 seconds and placed first in the 100 breaststroke (1:07.00).

Swimmer of the Year: Piper McNeil, Shawnee

Class: Freshman

Event: 100 backstroke

The story: McNeil’s freshman campaign couldn’t have gone much better. She set a record in the 100 backstroke (55.49) at the Class 6A state meet. She also won the 200 individual medley (2:04.58) and led Shawnee to a victory in the 200 freestyle relay (1:41.12).

Bria Boreham, Norman North

Class: Junior

Event: 100 breaststroke

The story: Boreham had a pair of second-place finishes at the Class 6A state meet, recording impressive times in the 100 breaststroke (1:06.61) and 200 individual medley (2:12.28).

Victoria Whitbeck, McGuinness

Class: Freshman

Event: 200 freestyle

The story: Whitbeck placed second in the 100 backstroke and 200 freestyle at the Class 5A state meet. She finished the 200 freestyle in 1:57.59, just 0.77 seconds behind Tulsa Kelley junior Abbey Mink.

Dylan Beeson, Heritage Hall

Class: Sophomore

Event: 200 individual medley

The story: Beeson had a breakout year. The sophomore won the 200 individual medley (2:15.11) at the Class 5A state meet and placed second in the 100 breaststroke (1:10.26).

Victoria Hollen, Norman North

Class: Senior

Event: 500 freestyle

The story: Hollen ended her high school career with a solid season. She placed seventh in the 500 freestyle (5:22.98) and ninth in the 200 freestyle (2:01.52) at the Class 6A state meet.

Coach of the Year: Kirk Norman, Mid-Del Public Schools

The story: Norman led the Carl Albert girls team to its second consecutive Class 5A state title. Although the Titans did not win an event, they finished with 269 points. Fort Gibson placed second with 220 points.
