Oklahoma high school senior spotlight: With a 94 mph fastball, Shawnee's J’Briell Easley eyes MLB Draft down the road

J’Briell Easley, Shawnee boys baseball and basketball: Easley was preparing to start as Shawnee’s ace before the 2020 season was wiped out by the coronavirus outbreak. The right-handed pitcher’s arsenal includes a slider, change-up and a fastball that topped out at 94 mph. Even without playing his senior season, Easely had enough impressive outings to sign with Cowley County Community College in Kansas. Shawnee coach Kevin Paxson said Easely chose Cowley so he can enter the draft sooner than if he went to a Division I school. Easely also served as the team captain on the boys basketball team, but the team's trip to the Class 5A state tournament was canceled.
