High school girls basketball: Edmond Memorial hires Rachel Crabaugh
Edmond Memorial did not search far to find their new coach.
The Bulldogs hired assistant coach Rachel Crabaugh as the new girls basketball head coach, Edmond Memorial athletic director Kyle Roberts announced Monday.
“This is the Edmond way,” Roberts said. “We promote within, if we can do that. And Rachel [Crabaugh] has been extremely loyal to us. She’s worked and done everything we’ve asked her to do for the last eight years.”
Crabaugh will replace Curt Knox, who she served under for two of her eight years as the assistant girls basketball coach. During their time together, the Bulldogs recorded a record of 30-20 and advanced to the area tournament in 2018-19.
Along with coaching basketball, Crabaugh was the head girls soccer coach in 2019. She will step away from the field, starting in the 2020 season, to focus on her debut as a head basketball coach.
“When we hired Coach Knox, I think that was a blessing for Rachel,” Roberts said. “Being able to gather ideas, information from him and also from her previous head coach Dandy Peeler … She’s ready. We’re excited to have her lead our girls basketball program.”
