Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert will donate $100,000 to families in Oklahoma City who have been affected by the coronavirus, the Jazz announced Saturday.
Gobert's local support is part of a larger contribution. He has pledged $200,000 to aid part-time employees who work at Vivint Smart Home Arena in Salt Lake City. Gobert will also donate $100,000 to support families in Utah affected by the coronavirus and 100,000 euros to his home country of France, where there are more than 4,400 confirmed cases of COVID-19.
Gobert's total contributions will surpass $500,000.
"I am humbled by the tireless efforts and care of people around the globe for those affected by COVID-19, especially my own communities of Utah and France, in addition to my appreciation for the state of Oklahoma and my care there, and of course, my Utah Jazz family," Gobert said in a press release.

“I know there are countless ways that people have been impacted. These donations are a small token that reflect my appreciation and support for all those impacted and are the first of many steps I will take to try and make a positive difference, while continuing to learn more about COVID-19 and educate others. Much gratitude, RG.”
The Thunder-Jazz game in Oklahoma City was postponed Wednesday night as it later became known that Gobert had tested positive for COVID-19. He was the first NBA player to test positive for the coronavirus.
Gobert's teammate, Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell, tested positive Thursday morning.
The NBA suspended its season following Gobert's positive test.
