Coronavirus in Oklahoma: Down Syndrome Association of Central Oklahoma postpones Crazy Sock Hop previously set for March 21

The Down Syndrome Association of Central Oklahoma has decided to postpone the Crazy Sock Hop, previously scheduled for March 21, which is recognized as World Down Syndrome Day.

The event was to be held at the University of Oklahoma. However, due to the university's decision to close the campus, the Down syndrome group felt it was in the best interest of families to postpone the event to a later date to be determined.

"We do not want to put any of our families at risk and most importantly our loved ones with Down syndrome who already have compromised auto immune systems, which puts them at a higher risk of contracting and recovering from the virus," a news release stated.

Anyone with questions or concerns related to upcoming events may contact the Down Syndrome Association of Central Oklahoma office at 405-600-9981 or by email at info@dsaco.org.
