Oklahoma City-area garden events calendar from The Oklahoman for March 14, 2020

Meetings

Late Bloomers Garden Club: noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Will Rogers Garden Exhibition Building. Potluck lunch and presentation by Brian Dougherty, of the OKC Community Foundation on the “History and Significance of our Parks.”

Apogon Iris Garden Club: noon March 25, Morrison Floral and Greenhouses, 4801 N Meridian. Hostess is Carol Walker. Program will be “My favorite PICK 5” by Randy Morrison.

Workshops

Oklahoma Gardening School: Garden Renovation for a Changing Climate — Transforming Your Yard into a Beautiful, Resilient and Eco-Friendly Garden, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 21. Kerr-McGee Auditorium in the Meinders School of Business at Oklahoma City University. Presented by the Meinders Foundation. Myriad Botanical Gardens members $40, nonmembers $70, students with ID $25 students, optional box lunch $15. Register at myriadgardens.org.

Gardening in Dry-Shade Conditions: 10 a.m. to noon March 28, Myriad Botanical Gardens. Members $9, nonmembers $14. Landscaper architecture professor Dave Edwards, Gibbs College of Architecture at the University of Oklahoma, and water conservation coordinators from the city of Oklahoma City will present information on selecting and cultivating drought-resistant, dry-shade plants for hardy low-ground cover, conservative watering techniques, mulch and rain barrels. Guided Walking Tour: 10-11 a.m. March 28, Myriad Botanical Gardens. Free. Meet in South Lobby Visitor Center. Geared toward adults; children and leashed dogs welcome.

Urban Hike from Myriad Gardens: 11 a.m. to noon March 28, May 30, July 25, Sept. 25, Myriad Botanical Gardens. A new add-on option to the Guided Monthly Walking Tour! Hike for another hour lead by YMCA instructors. Target downtown locations announced before each hike on Myriad Gardens social media. Bring water and wear comfortable clothing and shoes.
