Positive Tomorrows hires new staff
Positive Tomorrows, Oklahoma’s only private, tuition-free elementary school and social services agency specifically serving children and families experiencing homelessness, recently welcomed new staff members Abby Anderson, Stephanie Ashcraft and Shanel James.
“We are excited for these wonderful additions to our staff,” said Susan Agel, president and CEO at Positive Tomorrows. “As we prepare to serve more children and families than ever before, including with our new Early Head Start program beginning in March, their unique backgrounds and experience will be instrumental to the organization.”
Anderson serves as the head teacher for Positive Tomorrows’ Early Head Start program. She taught pre-K and kindergarten for one and a half years at Epic Charter Schools and spent three years with Hope Pregnancy Center/Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children. She received her bachelor’s in early childhood education from Oklahoma Christian University and a master’s in bilingual education/teaching English as a second language from the University of Central Oklahoma.
Ashcraft serves as Positive Tomorrows’ extracurricular programs coordinator. She previously worked as the development coordinator for JDRF in Tulsa before moving back to Oklahoma City to be involved with youth ministry. She serves as the youth pastor and outreach liaison for Outreach United Church in Spencer.
James serves as the teacher’s aide for the Early Head Start classroom at Positive Tomorrows. She previously worked at Kindercastle Children’s Center in Midwest City. She received her associate’s degree in pre-education from Rose State College.
