Thunder: Chris Paul reacts to former agent Leon Rose being named Knicks president

Leon Rose, one of the most prominent player agents in the NBA, was named president of the New York Knicks on Monday.

Rose stepped down from Creative Artists Agency, where he was co-head of the basketball division. Among Rose’s clients were Joel Embiid, Devin Booker, Karl-Anthony Towns and Thunder point guard Chris Paul.

“My reaction, I was excited,” Paul said Monday after practice. “I was surprised like everybody else. (Leon) has been with me for a long time through a lot of different things. I couldn’t be happier for him and his family. The first thing I said to him is how did his wife and his kids react? (Leon) is all about his family, so I’m happy for him.”

Rose isn’t the first agent to join an NBA front office. Warriors general manager Bob Myers and Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka are former player agents.

Paul didn’t share his plans for hiring a new agent.

“Luckily this is Year 15 for me so I think I’ll manage,” Paul said.
