Holt to focus on public schools in annual address updating the state of the city
Mayor David Holt says he will use Wednesday's State of the City address to propose a collaborative conversation among education, business, philanthropic and city leaders to "push the ball forward" on improving public schools.
Holt says he would like to devote 2020 to developing "a unified vision for our community to rally around on education."
It is a goal he spoke about during his election campaign two years ago.
Holt says he thinks the mayor is uniquely positioned to convene individuals who have a significant interest in the success of schools.
He says Oklahoma City can aspire to schools "the community can be proud of and that will draw young families to live in the city."
Plans are to livestream the address on the city's Facebook page.
The event is 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Cox Convention Center.
The mayor likely will begin his remarks around noon.
