Crews respond to report of natural gas odor at OKC middle school

More than 800 students were evacuated Thursday at Taft Middle School, 2901 NW 23, after reports of a possible natural gas leak.

Around 10 a.m., a hazmat team responded to the school to check for natural gas odors, and ONG also responded, authorities said.

Emergency crews did not detect an odor of natural gas, authorities. No injuries were reported. Students returned to class.

“There were no kids in any danger,” Oklahoma City Fire Battalion Chief Benny Fulkerson said. “They didn’t find anything in the school.”
