OU men's basketball: Baylor defense out does Sooners
NORMAN — Against OU, Baylor showed why it is the No. 1-ranked team in the country — defense.
Baylor is giving up just 58.2 points per game on average, and it held OU to 54 points on Tuesday.
“Their five guys are very much together,” OU coach Lon Kruger said of the Bears. “Very connected defensively.”
Baylor’s defense made things difficult on OU, senior forward Kristian Doolittle said. The Bears forced the Sooners into tough shots.
The Bears also made it hard for junior forward Brady Manek to get going. Baylor took away the catch and shoot part of Manek’s game, limiting him to 10 points.
“They were kind of there on the catch and didn't give him much space and make him work a little bit for all those open looks,” Kruger said. “So they did a good job against him.”
