OU football: Lincoln Riley talks about signee Reggie Grimes

NORMAN — Lincoln Riley and the Sooners are excited about signee Reggie Grimes.

Grimes signed with OU on Feb. 5, helping finish out the Sooners’ 2020 class.

“Great athlete, has a great pedigree, kind of one of those elite edge guys we were really thrilled to get in here,” Riley said. “He’s gonna be a really, really nice addition to that front.”

A four-star defensive end, Grimes is rated No. 7 in his position nationally and is the No. 5 player coming out of Tennessee in the 2020 class, according to Rivals.

“You watch his high school film, he played a lot of tailback, which you love seeing for a guy that’s 6-4, 200 pounds already.”

Grimes committed to Oklahoma on Nov. 28, 2019, but did not sign on early signing day back in December. Grimes made his continued commitment to the Sooners known on Twitter and signed as expected.

Grimes was one of three players to sign with OU on the Feb. 5 signing day, along with Chandler Morris and Joshua Eaton.

“Three important players to kind of top off the class for us,” Riley said.
