OU football: Chandler Morris was Lincoln Riley's favorite QB in 2020 class

NORMAN — Chandler Morris was Lincoln Riley’s favorite quarterback in the 2020 class, the OU coach said in a press conference Wednesday.

"I felt very fortunate to get a guy who honestly was our favorite quarterback from second one," Riley said.

A product of Highland Park High School in Dallas, Morris is rated a three-star recruit by Rivals. Morris committed to Oklahoma after early signing day, and, before his commitment, the Sooners didn’t have a quarterback in their 2020 class.

Morris, son of Auburn offensive coordinator Chad Morris, was originally committed to Arkansas  — the program his dad was the head coach of until November. After Chad was fired by the Razorbacks, Morris decommitted.

“I felt like all along if Chandler didn’t go play for his dad that he would come here,” Riley said. “We had a great relationship and it was a great fit.

“Frankly we got to the point in this class that we said if we get Chandler, then obviously we're gonna take him. And if we can't get him, to be honest, I didn't find another quarterback out there that we really fell in love with and we thought was the right guy for us.”
